Transition Prayer

O God, in this interim time we pray for our parish family, that we may be genuine in our self-reflection, tireless in our commitment, patient in our discernment, loving in our communion, open in our search, and daring in our faith.

We thank you for the gifts, talents and skills with which you have blessed us. We thank you for the experiences that have brought us to this moment. Help us accept change as a gift of your direction for our journey in this transition.

Instill in us a vision of the church’s family; that, guided by your Holy Spirit, we will be united in love and joyfully accomplish this mission, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. John’s North Haven at a Glance

St. John’s is an intergenerational faith community of 329 members with an average Sunday attendance of 116.  Two dozen new parishioners joined our ranks last year to complement many members who have been here for decades.  Parishioners bring a broad range of skills and professional experience that enhance the work of our Vestry and committees.  The parish dates back to 1759 and continues a long history of hospitality ministries.  We are part of a strong and progressive diocese that is deeply invested in discerning God’s mission for the church within the community and beyond.  Situated in a small town less than ten miles from New Haven, St. John’s draws upon the deep resources and cultural amenities of several area colleges and universities, businesses, and not-for-profit organizations.
